Originally the Fischer Meat Packing Company, the Mellwood Art Center turned a factory from 1904 into a small business incubator for local entrepreneurs. Among the small businesses calling Mellwood home are Mellwood Antiques & Interiors, Danny Mac’s Pizza, and Butchertown Brewing.

Art

Mellwood is home to a unique array of visual and performing artists. With over 170 studio spaces, Mellwood has spaces of all shapes and sizes perfect for your creative endeavor. Our Pigment Gallery regularly hosts shows and exhibits by local artists of all kinds. Visitors will also find murals, sculptures, and paintings peppered throughout our sprawling complex. Come learn more about what Mellwood has to offer the Louisville arts community!

Events

With five customizable event venues, our open vendor policy, and proximity to downtown Louisville, the Mellwood Art Center can easily accommodate corporate and private events of all sizes. Additionally, we have the longest rental period in the city, which alleviates the pressure of time constraints, giving you as much time as you need to set up and tear down.
