St. James Scholarship Award Winners
The St. James Court Art Show consortium of neighborhood associations is pleased to announce the winners of the 31 st annual High School Scholarship Competition.
A jury of working artists evaluated student artistic work according to originality, design, and technical proficiency.
Nine scholarship pledges totaling $18,300 will be awarded to the following student winners:
Painting & Illustration Portfolio Winners (in alphabetical order): Alex Beard (Manual, Doug Deweese, teacher) ; Jenna Chapman ( Jeffersonville, Dawn Struck, teacher) ; Jordan Hauser (Manual, Julie Tallent, teacher) ; Elizabeth Hayden (Manual, Doug Deweese, teacher); Kate Lyons (Manual, Doug Deweese, teacher); Abby Rudolph (Manual, Julie Tallent, teacher)
Photography Portfolio Winner: Alex Huninghake (Manual, Wes Curtis, teacher)
Printmaking Portfolio Winner: Raymond “Morgan” Plappert (Manual, Doug Deweese, teacher)
Single Watercolor Winner: Tori Hunter ( New Albany, Trish Korte, teacher)
Winning students will exhibit their work at the St. James Art Show, Friday through Sunday October 2- 4 from 10 AM to 5 PM at booths on the South Green on St. James Court, south of the fountain. Booth numbers will be 427-429 I.
The scholarship award ceremony will be Saturday October 3 at 4 PM at the student exhibit.
A second exhibit by the St. James Court Art Show scholarship winners’ artwork will be at the Mellwood Arts & Entertainment Center Pigment Gallery beginning October 19, with a reception during the Fat Friday Trolley Hop on October 30.
