Places and Spaces Tucked Away
November 25 - December 31, 2011
Getting Louisvillians connected through art and urban architecture is artist Ashley Brossart’s main objective for her preview exhibition Places and Spaces Tucked Away. A small sample of her ongoing project OrangePeeledArtDrops, this exhibition provides a sneak-peak to a larger installation taking place at Mellwood’s Gallery M in 2012. Places and Spaces Tucked Away will be on display for two months.

Viewer participation instructions provided by Brossart tell onlookers exactly how to get involved in the exhibition:
- GO to Bridge Gallery during November & December 2011
- TAKE one of the “pieces”
- Follow the instructions on back to...
- ...Find your place in the original map piece.
- Share with friends
- Repeat / Enjoy!
“I am interested in connecting people through art to each other and their spaces” says Brossart, “I am exploring ways to create a fresh level of awareness to the urban spaces surrounding us. For this specific set of maps the pieces were once in between the layers – tucked away – similar to many unnoticed areas of a city or neighborhood. The finder does not have to go far to find a piece but can experience an immediacy in the participation."

Hallway Gallery A & B
Canadian Invasion
October 23 - December 31, 2011
You can still catch selections of the Canadian Invasion exhibition in Hallway B, the upper level of Gallery M, and in Studio 181!

"This is a voyage of a traditional photographer into a realm
that had no boundaries.
I let my spirit drift into the world that was being unveiled to me;
soon reality faded from my thoughts everything seemed surreal at times, nothing seemed too belong here.
Influences, there were a few:
colour abstract paintings, outer space then inner space
but mostly the creativity of nature with all its powers.
Most of the works display some of these elements and sometimes enhanced by light and composition.
Some brought revelations; others raised many questions."
