2019 MAEC Spring Art Show

The perfect Mother’s Day outing! Bring mom and grandma for a night of art and wine on Saturday, May 11th from 5-9PM or spend the afternoon on Sunday, May 12th from 11-5pm.

Bring the whole family! The show is a fun event for all ages. MAEC is always pet-friendly so Fido can come too! There is a drop-off area for the elderly and handicapped. Plus FREE parking & admission.

MAEC will host the Spring Art Show Preview Party from 5pm-9pm on Saturday, May 11th.  Artists will have their work for sale alongside our cocktail party.  Alcoholic beverages will be on sale. There will be hors d’oeuvres and other food available. Plus, Danny Mac’s Pizza is open until 11 pm!

On Sunday, May 12th, spend the afternoon from 11 AM – 5 PM exploring Kentuckiana artists work.  Spectacular handmade pieces will be for sale.

Rain or shine, the art show occurs inside our  Picasso Room. There will be live art, food, drinks, and up to 50 vendors!

The booth fee is $175 dollars for both days.

Information for artists: 


Drawing: Original compositions drawn by the artist’s hand in charcoal, pastel, pencil, ink, etc.

Painting: Original oil, acrylics, watercolor, Gouache etc. are in this category. Reproductions of all kinds will be prohibited. Painters wishing to sell any prints must submit a separate application in the Graphics/Printmaking category.

Photography: Original photographs by the artist. May include digital alteration or hand painting. Mixed Media: Original work where the primary intent is the union of two or more media. (2D Mixed Media is wall mounted mixed media work – 3D Mixed Media is freestanding mixed media work).

Digital Art: This category includes any original work for which the original image, or the manipulation of other source material, was executed by the artist using a computer. Work in this category must be in limited editions, signed and numbered on archival quality materials.

Fiber: Works created from fibers, including basketry, weaving, paper-making, leather, and fabric. Includes wearable fiber ie work where the primary intention is to be worn and where the primary material is fiber.

Jewelry: All jewelry must be original designs made by the artist. Commercial findings are acceptable Ceramics: Created from the imagination and by the hand of the artist from clay, porcelain, stoneware, and/or earthenware.

Sculpture: Three-dimensional works incorporating any material that are carved, modeled, constructed or cast.

Wood: Functional and sculptural work where the primary material is wood. Original works must be hand-tooled, machine-worked, turned or carved.

ARTIST AMENITIES:  Coffee and water will be provided for all artists both days. MAEC will have booth sitters available to help watch your space for 15-minute intervals. Artists who submit high-res images and grant permission will be promoted on MAEC social accounts. 


Artists will gain access to set-up beginning at 8 AM on Saturday, May 11th. Artists must finish set-up by 4:30 PM. The doors will open to the public at 5 PM on Saturday for the cocktail preview party.  You will only need to stay for the period it takes you to set-up your space and then return by 4:30 PM to prepare for the cocktail preview party.

Artists must arrive by 10 AM – 10:30 AM on Sunday, May 12th. Doors will open to the public at 11 AM.

Artists may leave on the 12th starting at 5:15 PM. Artists must stay on the 12th until they have removed all of their equipment, artwork, and other materials.

SECURITY: The event room will be locked overnight on the 12th.  There will be someone monitoring the facility on Saturday night. Artists are responsible for protecting their booth and work throughout the open show hours.

Credit Card: Credit Card payments may be made on location or by filling out a credit card authorization form. Credit card payments will incur a 3% processing fee.

Cash: All cash should be delivered directly to someone in the Mellwood Art & Entertainment Center Monday-Friday between 9:30 AM and 5 PM.
